Woodfields Match Result - 18 March 2023
This open "Float Only" match was a great success with 15 anglers taking part. The refreshments (pasties, sanwiches and drinks) served after the match in the Woodfields Lodge was much appreciated. See our Facebook page for photos.

Jamie Ballinger Memorial Trophy Result 2023
The annual match for the trophy took place on Saturday 3 June 2023 with twenty-two anglers taking part.
The match raised £110 pounds for the British Heart Foundation which was a really good show. Congratulations to Barry Smith who took top spot.

Club Day Junior Match - Saturday 10 June
This year's Junior Open Trophy was won by young Jakub Kopec, with his sister, Saran taking the Peter Callow trophy for most fish caught.

Open - Float Only Match Sat 9 September Result
Andy Franklin won the match with 2lb 5oz. Weights for all eight fishing were fairly low as the conditions were tough with the heat. In total 8 anglers fished.

Carp Cup Match Result
The Carp Cup held on 23 Sep 2023 was won by Pat Dunkley who caught two carp for a total weight of 13lb. Pat is pictured below on the left being presented the cup by our Treasurer Simon Bumstead.

Winter Series Match 4 Result - 16 Dec 2023
First time entrant Dave Gillman took top spot with an impressive 7lb 2oz. With Vince Riley, second with 2lb 5oz, and Martin Yardley in third with 1lb 3oz.

It's down to Jack Swallow to stop Pat Dunkley from taking another trophy, though he does need to win and hope Pat comes in lower than fourth. Barry Smith can tie for top spot if both Pat and Jack come in lower than seventh, unlikley to happen unless he nobbles them with a dodgy breakfast before the match.

Winter Series Match 3 Result - 2 Dec 2023
It was an impressive turn out for such a bitterly cold day with nine brave members fishing the match. With seven blanking and only two fish being caught,
Pat Dunkley took top spot with 1lb 5oz perch and Jack Swallow, second with a 2oz perch.

Pat Dunkley took top spot with 3lb 7oz. With Mark Barrett, second with 1lb 15.5oz, and Jack Swallow in third with 1lb 14oz.

Young Albert Ward, pictured below with his best fish, won the match beating eleven other of the club's top match anglers. Another outstanding performance by the young angler. Top six entrants who all scored points listed below.

Stan Smith Memorial Trophy Winner - 21 Oct 2023
Young Albert Ward, pictured below being presented with the trophy by Barry Smith, took top spot in the match.
To say he did really well simply understates the win, an absolute brilliant result, as there were a few experienced anglers (ten in total) fishing the match.

Barry said "with lake being coloured due to the recent rain it was going to make it a challenging day . First on the day was Albert with 4lb 12.5oz - a great performance and lovely to have a young angler fishing and taking the honours. Albert’s catch included his biggest perch and tench so far."

The series was a close run event with only 1 point separating the top two. Well done to Pete Wilkins.

Friday Cup Series Result
The Friday Cup series concluded on 1st September with the final sixth match being fished by seven members. Going into the match it was Pat Dunkley's to lose, as he had a seven point lead over his closest rival Pete Wilkins.

Anyway, despite a strong challenge from Jack Swallow and Peter Wilkins, Pat won the day and scooped all nine points following a steward's enquiry into the taking of performance improving substances - which proved unfounded.
In total 19 different members fished at least one of the matches in the series, which has been a big success.
Pat, left in picture, was presented the cup by Simon Bumstead, who finished one place ahead of Barry Smith.

OAP Trophy Series Result
Ron Hillier, pictured on the right being presented the trophy, won the OAP Trophy with an weight net of 3lb 7oz in the final match of the three match series. On 1st September Ron had fished 300 matches at Woodfields. Which is a record in itself.

It was a close match with Pete Wilkins taking top spot with 2lb 10oz. Martin Yardley was second with 2lb 7oz, and Ron Hillier in third with 2lb 3oz.

Bernard Lewis Junior Trophy Result - 9 Sep 2023
Albert Ward, pictured below being presented the trophy by Simon Bumstead, won the Bernard Lewis Junior Trophy with a weight of 10oz - it was a tough day for fishing given the sweltering conditions with even those fishing the adults match struggling.

Mugs Mug Winner - Barry Smith
Barry Smith won the annual commmittee match on Saturday 14 Oct 2023 held at Woodfields. Barry, left in picture, was presented the trophy by last year's winner Dick Hutchin. Barry's weight was 2lb 3oz.Barry had previously won the trophy back in 2012.
